In Lower Sixth, I attended the Careers Fair and after talking to an Old Stoic who worked in an investment bank, he kindly gave me an email address so I could contact him in the future. A little over a year later I began thinking that I would like to do some work experience and remembering the email address, sent a message explaining what I wanted to study at university and why I was interested in work experience in the financial sector. After a few emails, I ending up going for an informal type of interview in the Easter holidays, which led to completing two weeks’ work experience over the summer. This work experience was particularly useful because I got to see many different departments and teams within the bank and consequently began to appreciate the variety of jobs available. It was also very beneficial to experience the atmosphere and reality of working in a field in which I am interested.
