Monty Lewis (Bruce 09) has founded a bag company called Tethera and designed a bag which can be worn three ways – as a backpack, satchel and messenger bag. It has a clever strap system of cotton shuttle loom webbing, sliding along robust aluminium harness buckles, quickly changing the bag’s configuration. It is both functional and practical, making it suitable for rural and urban adventures.

The bags are made in Britain by expert craftspeople using Scottish waxed canvas, Italian leather, aluminium harness buckles and AquaGuard Zips. The name Tethera is ancient Cumbrian for three. Farmers in Cumbria count their sheep yan, tan, tethera. The bag has been inspired and designed in Cumbria, and can be worn tethera ways, so the name is very apt!
