“One of my greatest joys while at Stowe was gaining an RAF Flying Scholarship while in the CCF. I learnt to fly on a Tiger Moth during the summer holidays of 1962 and I managed to fly solo on the 50th and 55th anniversaries of my first solo flight. This year was the 60th anniversary and to mark that date I flew again – but this time with a check pilot. When I asked him if I would have crashed it, he said ‘No, you were fine!’ The aircraft was the eighth Tiger ever built and is now 90 years old.”
