“What‘s new? Well, a bunch of us old fogeys planned a get together for the 100th anniversary. Then one refused to travel, another said dancing hurt his foot, a third lost all his party suits and my doctor said if you cross the Atlantic one more time without compression socks, you‘re off my list. Oh, the fun of being over 85! But I did publish two more novels and another group of our pals spent four months visiting relatives and offspring in Europe. That was a mistake. Most got COVID (luckily not us!), four of our flights were cancelled and my wife met the grandson of Louis Vuitton so of course she bought a bag or two. So now we are broke as well as decrepit. But still having fun and that is what Stowe taught us – never give up!”
