Mike writes, “I commissioned a painting by Penelope Kirk of the Corinthian Arch after seeing her work in The Corinthian. Great work. The Arch was the first thing I saw when my mother dumped me at Stowe from Canada in 1950. After three days of bewilderment of what was I doing here, I loved every minute of the four years. I still have five good friends – one in Madeira, two in the UK and two in the USA. My latest book Short Stories for Long Flights launches in November. My last created a furore in the Conservative Cayman Islands. You can’t do topless – even from the back! The girl is my wife!”
