Jenny Nelson (Former staff, 2006-2012)

Jenny writes from Salisbury and Sherborne where she has been based since leaving Stowe in 2012. For the last eight years Jenny has been discerning her vocation to priesthood in the Church of England through the Diocese of Salisbury, including through ministerial and serving roles at Salisbury Cathedral. Having trained at Sarum College part-time whilst continuing in her full-time teaching role in the Music and RS Departments at Sherborne Girls, Jenny was ordained Deacon in Salisbury Cathedral at the end of June by the Bishop of Salisbury. She is serving her curacy post in The Three Valleys Benefice in the Sherborne Deanery and with continuing studies will hopefully be ordained as Priest at the beginning of July 2022.

She writes: “Stowe has been in my thoughts and heart on an almost daily basis for the last ten years; I am thankful for the very special five years there – that time will stay with me forever! It was a privilege to lead Stanhope, to learn from Dr Anthony Wallersteiner and Sir Nicholas Winton, the South African Scholars and many special colleagues and pupils. It was such a blessing to be immersed in the arts and pastoral care in that extraordinary landscape. Thank you and I hope to see you all again one day.”
