John writes with a reminiscence, “We were on our way to Oundle, I think it was, in a bus to play a rugby match. Suddenly the brakes failed (proper maintenance of vehicles was a problem in wartime). The driver shouted ‘Here we go’ as the bus crashed into the vehicle in front and the windscreen went white with steam from the shattered radiator. Somehow we got to Oundle, played our game and lost. This memory reminded me how much I enjoyed the visits to other schools.”
