Christopher writes, “I have now attained the age of 88. My five years at Stowe had happy memories of Alastair McDonald as Housemaster of Chatham and JF as Headmaster – the inspiration for Stowe. A speciality was the individual personalities of many of the Masters who flourished under his leadership. Amongst them Hamish, Fritz, Windy Dick and others I have since forgotten. I wonder if the Stowe menu in the late forties of whale and snoek helped? Also, the occasional dips in the nine-acre lake must have been beneficial for what is now called wild swimming; Happy memories!”
