Bill Evans (Grafton 65)

Bill has kindly sent in two poems for everyone to enjoy:

A Race for the Ages
Time was when
Life was long three score and ten
And strife was never ending;
Sport was played by gentlemen
Tea at four, ignore the score
And stumps were drawn at seven.
The trick of course to finish first,
Second, also ran, can return a modest purse
So if I grow old before you grow old
Who is winner then?

A view of Canadian Autumn
I’ve watched the fall
The leaves painted dainty
Describing
Parabolic flight
Gently alight, completing
Their proscribed transition.
Green at first
Gold at best
Red ablaze
Dead at last.
