David has recently produced two books. One, From Hackney to Horsham, a Schoolmaster’s Life, is a substantial volume in which sixty-one pages are devoted to his time at Stowe. The other is Education and Politics, a history of unintended consequences and the case for change. It is a history of English education and suggests how to improve things. It makes use of the history of the six schools of which he had direct experience over fifty years, as a schoolboy, teaching History and as a Headmaster. Stowe comes out of it rather well.
