Brian writes, “2017- 2018 has been another eventful period. Adrian Dangar (Temple 81) has now published his widely acclaimed book, Life on the Edge, the extraordinary life of Tristan Voorspuy (Former Parent), who was murdered in Kenya in March 2017, father of Archie (Chatham 10) and Imogen (Lyttleton 12) Voorspuy. Archie is managing a very large ranch next to Sosian where his father died and Imogen is active with Safaris from Deloraine, and she organised the very successful Tristan Voorspuy Conservation Trust Ball in May last year at the Hurlingham Club, which raised a large amount for her father’s passion for conservation in Kenya. My mother Geraldine Macoun, widow of Michael Macoun (Grafton 33), died in Kenya in September 2018, aged 102. Her memorial (at Deloraine) was attended by my brother Tony Macoun (Grafton 62), and her nephew Simon Sladen (Grafton 61) and other family members and old friends. My mother was the first woman to climb to the summit of Mt Kenya in 1938 with her brother Edward Sladen (Bruce 31), who was the first man to climb it twice. Tony Macoun (Grafton 62) has recently retired from United World Colleges and as Chair of Pearson College of the Pacific on Vancouver Island. A number of Old Stoics continue to live in and visit Kenya and Tanzania.”
