Jeremy writes to say,”I came to the then Southern Rhodesia in 1947 after leaving Stowe, being unfit for National Service. I went as an assistant on a tobacco farm and subsequently went up through the trade seeing it being processed and packed for export. I joined the territorial force, as was required then by all young men and, having served my three years, I joined the regular force. I subsequently served throughout our war in Her Majesty’s regiments and retired in 1980. I am still living in Zimbabwe and if any Old Stoic is coming to this part of the world and I could be of assistance, please contact me through the Old Stoic office.”
