Alex Nairn (Bruce 94)

Being part of the King‘s Bodyguard for Scotland Royal Company of Archers, Alex guarded the Queen’s coffin during the night vigil as she lay in state at St Gile’s Cathedral in Edinburgh. His duty was from 10pm to 4am rotating on 20 min shifts. Alex said “People kept saying how well I had done but my duties only lasted six hours while the Queen served us for over 70 years”.

Alex was also involved in a Redondo Parade at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in July 2023, where the Royal Company performed a ‘Royal Three Cheers’ for the late Queen Elizabeth II.
