James Royds (Chatham 77)

James is currently the High Sheriff of Northumberland. James assumed the appointment in April 2022 and will serve for one year. Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, James was ordered by the Accession Council “to cause the Proclamation to be read in the area of his jurisdiction”. The Office of High Sheriff is the oldest secular office in the United Kingdom and has existed for well over 1,000 years.
